BUSKERFEST 2011 PERFORMERS

DAREDEVIL CHICKEN CLUB (Sonoma CA, USA) – Created in 2001 by Jonathan Taylor and Anne Goldmann, this duo has entertained audiences with their innovative performances in over 34 countries. Combining comedy with absurd characters and circus skills, they are modern comic Vaudevillians. Standing in the waters of classic cabaret and cresting the wave of in-your-face interactive madness, their goal is to challenge and push the medium of live performance and search for the line between reality and absurdity, comedy and taboo. *Website*
WACKY CHAD (Syracuse NY, USA) – Wacky Chad is super-charged and ready for action! Watch out for his extreme pogo stunts, charmingly funny jokes and crazy tricks, all mixed into one must see show! His antics got him on television programs like “America’s Got Talent,” “Live with Regis & Kelly,” and “Star King” (South Korea). His clowning around started in Ecuador at age 19 and he has since made hundreds of thousands of people laugh at schools, fairs, festivals, colleges, universities, stage and street shows across the globe. Wacky Chad was the very first Sault Buskerfest People’s Choice Award winner in 2008. *Website*
BRI THE COWGUY (Ottawa ON, Canada) – Brian Wilson performs as a Cowguy and also runs Orbital Entertainment – Ottawa’s premiere variety arts agency. He is also an accomplished juggler, yoyo artist, stilt walker, ladder walker, bullwhip cracker, fisherman, enjoys doing yoga, and is a champion pig wrestler. Brian is currently working on some ventriloquist routines with “Pedro the Puppet” and learning to play the bagpipes. You can bet his parents are proud. *Website*
JEFF HILL – MAGIC THAT ROCKS! (Toronto ON, Canada) – Jeff was the very first performer at the very first Sault Buskerfest back in 2004. He returns to rock once more, mixing classic magic and classic rock, adding fire breathing and wicked back-twisting escapes! This street-style family show has thrilled people the world over with Jeff’s infectious energy and love for performing. This show is guaranteed to rock you!
STREET CIRCUS (Winnipeg MB, Canada) – The husband and wife duo of Daniel and Kimberly Craig make up Street Circus, a continuous cavalcade of comedy, amazing acrobatics, hot hula-hoops and daredevil stunts! This high energy show featuring two award-winning performers combines many circus disciplines and during the show they perform over 100 different tricks and stunts. The show will leave you both breathless with amazement and howling with laughter. Daniel Craig was the proud recipient of the 2009 Sault Buskerfest People’s Choice Award. *Website*
GROOVY GUY (Warren VT, USA) – In May of 1987, Guy Collins quit his job as a travel agent and set out to travel the world. A week later he made his busking debut deep underground in the Paris Metro, banging on a bongo drum and juggling 3 balls. In the 24 years since then he has performed in Theatre, Circus, Theme Parks, Cultural Festivals, Resorts, Hotels, Renaissance Fairs, Peoples’ Homes, but mostly on the street, all over the world. He is no longer Guy Collins, but has instead become “The Groovy Guy”. *Website*
HICCUP THE CLOWN (Toronto ON, Canada) – Originally from Sault Ste. Marie, ON, Scott Kaija, seen here as Hiccup The Clown (one of several personas), is an accomplished juggler and unicyclist who performs in physical comedy style. He is comfortable with audiences of any age. With a quick wit and great patter, he likes to have fun, and as a result, his audience has fun too. He is also an internationally renowned guitarist and recording artist. Hiccup the Clown will be a roving performer during Buskerfest and is not part of the regular festival street performance schedule.
MARVELOUS MARVIN (Sault Ste. Marie ON, Canada) – An energetic and talented performer from Sault Ste. Marie, Marvelous Marvin brings his unique brand of illusion, mentalism, balloon twisting and wacky entertainment to any event. Be prepared to be amazed, astounded and entertained! Marvelous Marvin will be a roving performer during Buskerfest and is not part of the regular festival street performance schedule.
THE SALTY MOLLIES (Sault Ste. Marie ON, Canada) – The Salty Mollies are a Sault-based tantalizing burlesque ensemble. These ladies come from a variety of backgrounds and possess a number of fabulous talents such as voice, classical dance, theatrics and comedy. Their performance offers a diverse array of musical genres that will stimulate the senses and arouse the imagination. The Salty Mollies will perform during the Saturday Night Buskerfest Cabaret at Loplops and are not part of the regular festival street performance schedule.
WILL GILLESPIE & THE ROMANCE (Toronto ON, Canada) – Will Gillespie & Josh Turnbull have been recording and performing together under a bunch of names, always delivering a solid, fun show exploring a vast array of genres through Will’s ever-expanding catalogue. From the old-timey roots and folk hootenany that was the Saltcoats, to the blues-infused vintage garage-rock explorations of the Nightlife, to the jazzy adventures of Old World Romance, these men have journeyed through time and space, connecting with every age group and walk of life with their genuine, heartfelt, songs and energetic performances that always make the audience feel a part of the fun. Will Gillespie & the Romance will perform during the Saturday Night Buskerfest Cabaret at Loplops and are not part of the regular festival street performance schedule.
